Melody Thornton Love Gun
I am most definatley loving this song. I hate how the other PCD were slept on. I am sure most of them can really sing (I wouldn't know). She has this Duffy feel, and if you have never heard of Duffy then you best stop reading right now and YouTube her. Now I wonder what Nicole is doing right now? Scheming on how to get back in the limelight since her 15minute on dancing with the has-beens are over. I'm not saying I don't like Nicole, she has an excellent voice but she always tend to fail without the support of her background dolls. Maybe they help hide the imperfections in her voice and cover where she lacks because she don't seem the the type that is meant to go solo. Some are meant to branch out and rise (Beyonce) and some are only a piece of the best (Dawn Robinson of En vogue). #Imjustsayin.

Corinne Bailey Rae - Closer (Live in Williamsburg)
[ Download ]
this sounds better than the album cut. She need to release a live album. OMG I personally feel if an artist can not perform live and its better than the album then they can not sing and are probably abusing autotune. I freaking hate autotune.

I Will Always Love You....
My Grandmother passed recently (last Thursday to be exact) and it had never occurred to me how close we really were until I realized that I would never see her again. I mean I am sad but not depressed because I have accepted death as an inevitable event that will occur in all our live and I have grown to expect it even if I am not ready to accept the possibility of the end. I know when people die very often family member have regrets and wish to change or get a do over or one more chance. I can't help but wonder why does it take death for someone to feel regret or remorse for a past deed when we all know death is promised and sometimes arrives unannounced. You should cherish your loved ones as if this was possibly the last time you would see them.
So I traveled back home to saw goodbye to my grandmother for the last time and to share some laughs and memories with my family and friends. I say to them I will try to visit next year but you never know I may not make it so before I go I try to hug and kiss as many as I can so that there is a positive last memory of me like I have of my Grandmother.

The Best Burger I Ever Had...
Me and my girl Shay was out and about in Atlanta again searching for key garment items no girl should do without: multi-colored all -purpose leggings and a little "red" freakum dress.
Well hunger pains slowed our hunt down to a slow drag so we drove around midtown glancing at signs hoping for something (anything) to entice our empty bellies. And Yeah! Burger (1168 Howell Mill rd Atlanta, Ga 30318) caught out attention. I personally always wanted to try it and I have a friend that mans the fryers there that I also wanted to "harass". So since Shay didn't object I politely busted a U-turn and parked in the front lot ( more parking is apparently available in the rear).
The place was packed. And I mean PACKED! The line went out into the sweltering heat but no one seamed to mind the potential of heat induced stroke for a good burger. I was grateful for the the line once I laid my naturally indecisive eyes on the the plethora of choices. There was multiple choices for everything from whole wheat and non gluten buns to grass feed bison or beef to onion rings or fried pickles.
I decided on a grass feed beef burger with white bun, American cheese and the house made chili (Shaun's red chili). I meant to order some fried pickle but forgot so well do that next visit. Shay had a grass feed beef with white cheddar on whole wheat and a side of half onion rings and half hand cut fries. The onion rings were awesome and was perfect tucked into my burger. I expected the chili to have a little spicy kick but was a tad on the sweet side but was good none the less. The burger was Great the bus was so soft on the inside but didn't buckle under the weight of the burger and toppings.
Overall I can say I am most defiantly going back her in the very near future. :)

Customers Are Sooo Freaking Dumb.....
My boyfriend has just introduced me to a really really funny website Not Always Right.com This is some of the funniest dialog I have ever read.
Below is an excerpt from the page that I found very funny but I also wonder are these people serious.I mean no one can be this dumb.
When Funding Is Poultry
Fast Food | Miami, FL, USA
Customer: “Hi, can I have the chicken salad without chicken?”
Me: “Uh, you mean a regular salad?”
Customer: “No. I want the chicken salad without the chicken.”
Me: “Ma’am, a chicken salad without the chicken is just a salad.”
Customer: *stares blankly* “What’s the difference?”
Me: “There’s no chicken.”
*customer stares blankly*
Me: “It’s cheaper?”
Customer: “Okay! I’ll have that!”

Kanye West - POWER
Has anyone seen this new video? Kanye said its supposed to be a moving painting inspired by the Sistine Chapel. I totally get the whole Sistine Chapel thing I hope he wont be surprised when the conspirators come out and say everything in his video means devil this and hell that.
I hate how closed minded society is as a whole. I fell what Erykah Badu was trying to convey in her Window Seat video. That society assassinate that which they do not understand. If the definition of "normal" is what the majority believes does that mean to be different is to be abnormal or crazy. What if the majority was crazy and that one different person was the normal one, what then would the definition of normal be? Its like that episode of the Twilight Zone when every one was pig people and the "ugly" lady was a beautiful blonde. What I am saying is who are we to judge a artist's work based on the standards set by a society that sees with blinders.

Sitting in Class...
Currently sitting in my religions of the world class and I just heard a paper from a former student whose best friend confessed that her father raped her constantly for ten years since she was 10 years old, multiple times a day while her mother (who knew) turned a blind eye and blamed her when the girl confessed to her. The girl hasn't spoke to her family since she left home for college except once. They went to visit her on her 20th birthday and her father said she should forgive him because he has found God and is a changed man.
The girl said she will never speak to them again and she can never forgive him for taking her innocence and her ability to have children. She also said she does not want to go to heaven. She does not think it is fair that someone who destroyed her constantly for years should be so easily forgiven and accepted into heaven. And she would rather spend eternity in hell than in heaven with the man that destroyed her life.
I understand where the girl is coming from. The Bible teaches that everyone has a chance to find God, repent and change their ways to be accepted into Heaven. Since no one knows what is in Heaven it is entirely possible that if her father change his ways and she continue to live her life right that they may one day meet up in Heaven. How can you spend forever seeing someone that hurt you so? How can you pursuade someone in this situation to feel otherwise? You can't. It's impossible but to hold on to the hate is wrong and she should, for her sake, let it go. I think she should forgive for her inner peace but she does not have to make contact or rebuild bridges. This is a hard thing to reason with but it was really something that made me wonder.

Trying to Look Like Something on Laundry Day
Me and my girl Shay went shopping at one of my favorite malls, North Point Mall in Alphretta, Ga.
I regularly hit upa series of the same stores: Forever 21, Delia's, Wet Seal, Charlotte Rousse, American Eagle, and Pacific Sun. I didn't get a chance to hit up Hot Topic, Urban Outfitters, or Hollister buuuuut I did find a romper that I love love LOVE!

Early Dinner and Late Lunch Malaysian Style
So me and my friend went out to try some "alleged" authentic Cantonese cuisine over in Doraville, GA (Atlanta's large Asian and Spanish community). Our intent was to visit Wan Lai, a Cantonese restaurant that I read about on the Creative Loafing website. Well when we finally arrived we walked up to a empty space in a little Asian shopping strip mall. So being the starving maidens that we were we decided to walk around the plaza in search of another restaurant that would feed my need for fried rice. We ended up deciding on a Malaysian spot called Penang (4897 Buford Highway Chamblee, GA 30341).
The Roti Canai
crispy Indian style pancake with curried chicken and potato sauce
Me and my girl Shay killed this appetizer. The curry was sooo good. The curry taste similar to the curry I have eaten from the Whole Food's Market I work. We tore and dipped while chatting without a glance down at the plate until we realized it was all gone.
The Honey Squid
This was also an appetizer but I ordered it a little after the pancake and curry. I wanted some sort of seafood but not the typical calamari with black pepper. This was tentacles only and tasted a little charred as if grilled. The sauce was soooo good. It was like a caramelized teriyaki sauced with a hint of nutty sesame oil and a light spice. I was popping these back but my friend who never try anything was having a hard time getting past the way it looked.
This is the Clay Pot Pearl Noodle Soup which was way better than I thought it would be. Pearl noodles with minced shrimp, chicken, egg in a (obviously) clay pot. Without the crispy onions on top I felt this dish would have been in the bland department. After I did away with all of the crispy noddles I was force to resort to adding a few drops of soy sauce. I try to refrain from add any condiments to a meal unless absolutely necessary and this was almost unnecessary but I really felt that one drop was needed. You go and try and decide for yourself.
Oh but of course we ordered the shrimp fried rice. When my friend laid eyes on the soup I order she nearly fainted so I figured one normal dish that we both have had before would only be fair. I can only torture her so much right?
Another One For Yor Ass Boy!!!
I just love a funny picture. Maybe its just me but I find this LOL worthy. I bet the shark was like "how rude!"

Random Fun
Make a Kaleidoscope why don't you. If you are bored this will keep you or your kids busy for about a good 15 minutes. Try it out why don't you?
The Thought of the Day
Girls are like
apples on trees. The best
ones are at the top of the tree.
The boys don't want to reach for
the good ones because they are afraid
of falling and getting hurt. Instead, they
just get the rotten apples from the ground
that aren't as good, but easy. So the apples
at the top think something is wrong with
them, when in reality, they're amazing.
They just have to wait for the right
boy to come along, the one
who's brave enough to climb
all the way
to the top
of the tree.

So You Believe You have Rhythm
I can't get enough of these dance competition shows. For some reason I never make it to the end of the season....I haven't seen a winner crowned since the Jabbawockeez. All in all this is one of my favorite So You Think You Can Dance routines.
Can I Get a Window Seat?
So I'm sitting on the bus going home from work and the bus driver gets out of the turning lane, and parks the bus in the middle of the street. As if that is a WTF!? moment for you she grabs her purse and hops of the bus. Now I finally figured out a way to get music on my service-less phone until i buy an SD card so I was jamming to Erykah Badu's " Window Seat" so i was completely loss when i witnessed this without a reason why. As I sat on the bus with a broken air condition I looked around at the perplexed faces of the other passengers to see if anyone seemed worried or anxious like they were going to be late for work and was surprised to fine everyone calm yet confused.
Just a little something that happened on M.A.R.T.A today.

Flava in My Ear
I would like to thank my friend Precilla for a status about The Black Keys. I, always being up for new music (especially good new music) decided to youtube the group because there had to be at least one official video right? Well the first song I clicked on was Tighten Up and it was an instant favorite....and the video is really cute too. Take a look-see if you like good music if not go to yesterday's post there's a rapping hood rat you are sure to enjoy.

This is so cool
So I was using my Stumble application that I just installed for firefox and it took me to a page with sidewalk chalk art. I thought this was THE most coolest used of chalk I have ever seen...EVER! I mean it is awesome...the drawing are huge and at an angle they look 3D. Now the question that has been on my mind is I am almost positive this takes hours to do so who would commission this kind of temporary time consuming work? And for what purpose? I highly doubt that people crawl around on their hands and knees all day drawing with chalk that will get washed away during the rainy season or when some dog takes a whiz at the curb just for art's sake. IDK....Maybe its just me.
In other news:if you would like to use Stumble! because you are incredibly bored and already checked all of your usual media take out sites click here.
Memoirs of a Hood Geisha
What is hood rat hell. So today I logged onto my twitter account and was served a link from Kid Fury, whom I love to death (also check out his youtube page its hilarious). Well me being the nosy female that I am I had to click on it and low and behold to my *sarcastically* surprise I see some form of Black hood fuckery. If ever I need a good laugh I very often frequent the holy trinity of fuckery online my twitter page, Kid Fury's youtube page The FuryTV and mother of all fuckery induced blogs [Crunk + Disorderly] If you go to any of these and not see anything funny then there is just no hope for you.

A Random One For You....
So lately I have been watching a shitload of cartoons in a wide rage of styles. From classic Nickelodeon Angry Beavers and Invader Zim to Japan's ecchi KissxSis, Speed Grapher and Paradise Kiss (all of these are excellent animes by the way), and Daria ( you know that girl with the glasses that never smile). So I decided to share my joy with the world by uploading a random Daria episode.
Enjoy :D

What Happened to Black Cinima?
I freakin' love this movie!!!
When I watch some of my favorite movies with an all black cast I can't help but wonder if our only source for African-American Cinema is Tyler Perry. Is there no hope for us.
The days of Love Jones and Eve's Bayou seem so far away with all of the Twilight, Harry Potter and even the indie cult movies like Eat Pray Love. I feel as if we are regressing in motion picture entertainment but.....
Maybe its just me
I like....
Florence + the Machine...This is the only song I have heard of hers but I like it and I think the video is very artsy and creative. I'm not knocking Lady Gaga because is love her but this video is out there and it seems more genuine than her antics even tho i firmly believe lady gaga takes her work seriously, i still think there is a gimmicky-fakeness there (with the art not the music).
Idk maybe its just me.....
Peristence. When Its it Too Much
I
I was on the marta (Atlanta's sorry excuse for a public transit system) and this girl sat in the seat next to me. She and her friend was talking and this old guy kept making attempts to start up a conversation with them. Maybe it was the 5 o'clock shadow on his face or the strange foreign accent but he seemed a little too happy? Oh and looked about 50-ish in age. I don't know why but men just don't seem to get the meaning of the side-eye. If a female gives the side eye back away slowly.... or else.
I mean I'm very sure it was painfully obvious that these girls was not interested but the attempts continued. He asked about the weather, then the time and then he found a newspaper in one of the seats and asked if they wanted to read it (#areuseruious).

what now....
so I have yet to pay my rent and I have been waiting as patiently as possible for my refund so I can do so. I have until Thursday to pay 1k and then after i may get evicted. I hate the thought of this on my credit (i have already been evicted once)but I may have to bite the bullet on this one. I don't know how I am going to find a new place with two evictions on my credit....not to mention the plethora of loans (the price of a good education) *kanyeshrug* in 7 years I'll be debt free...i guess I can wait.

Well...
I am sitting in my culinary class (yes I am in a kitchen) listening to my classmates bicker, debate and straighten out their issues. Since this is my senior class we have to create a menu, a budget and raise money for our 8 course dinner. I am sooo tired of hearing everyone yell and talk over each other. I find that people, in general, never realize what is really going on in any given situation. People generally assume they know the whole story from only what they witness from the outside. So there are a few student in positions of authority, and have a little more responsibility than the others it does not mean they are doing plenty of work. It like the music industry, there are writer/producers that people never heard of and when they come out with their own song everyone is like what have they been doing to be deserve this or that, but really they have been working behind the scenes for years. I think people need to learn to slow down on jumping to conclusions or making assumptions.

Still in 2010...
I constantly google and link click from article to article and some how I came across the youtube page with Kanye West's infamous "Bush doesn't care about black people". I clicked on the video on the side where he was in an interview about it and the comment on the page made me so sad to see how strong and hidden racism is today. After all these years, all the marching, and all the beating and still today in 2010 people still don't get it. They still can't let it go. It really makes you loose faith in people. Placing blame a hundred years later how childish and pitiful. You can go to the page here.

what a recession
What do you do when you have no money to put gas in the car or take the train and your tank is on E? I don't have a job and I can't find one because I have no way of getting around with the lack of funds that I have. Since I do have to go to my internship tomorrow it looks like I am going to have to exercise my only option, which is buy a monthly train pass (even though the month is nearly over) for $40. My school uniform is stained because I can't afford bleach and people in my class (including my teacher) keep telling me to soak them or buy a new one. When someone says to me "Why don't you just buy one?" that is usually a reminder that a lot of people are not doing as bad as me (like my boyfriend said) because if they were they would already know I can't buy anything.

Omarion's terrible BET performance
106 and Park is becoming notorious for their lip sync performances. If you wanna do lip syncing do it right not like this. (If you don't know how it's done take a look at soul train). Below Exibit A ormarion being his own hype man while his mom outdo him on stage...I feel for him the same I feel for Bow Wow. Music is no longer your thing.
Bored
I went work to day and it was so slow they said I could go home. God must have heard my prayers. Now I have time to look for a second job.

YES!!! Sade is back after ten years with a hot news song and a hot new video to match. It has been so long I though I would never hear from her again (dido to maxwell ) but here it is.
But this will always remain my favorite Sade video

God i need a job...
I was out today on an interview because it takes two of my current paychecks to pay the rent and I only get paid every two weeks (you do the math). The job was a pastry position with a bonus of chocolate candy work a.k.a my dream job. Well while on the way there I can say I drove pass about 3 dozen homeless people on the same street and because of a boot I received while inside I now have a -$ (negative) balance on my bank account.
New York seems like the promise land of opportunities when I think of the few connections I have waiting for me there (that is if me and my boyfriend don't break up ...j/k). Well I don't think I have the job, not because I'm not qualified but just because I have sooo much competition.
National Unemployment = 9.4%
Georgia's Unemployment = 10.2%
You do the math.

Hurray for the snow....Boo to the ice
It finally snowed here in Atlanta but none of my friends wanted to venture out with me :/ But its cool we spent the day stuck in one of my boyfriend's friend's dorm room because the black ice on the streets was so bad. We played DJ Hero, Bayonetta and the new Mario for the wii (this guy has way too many game systems). Bayonetta was soooo cool to watch but it does seem to be a little difficult. If only I had a PS3, I would so get this game.
Well anyway, my boyfriend slid on the ice will out to get something for me and damaged our tire. So, the next day we went out to get it fixed and I took pics of all the ice and snow.

Rain rain go away i wanna see some snow today...
Well actually it isn't raining but it is very gray out. Like I said before I am from the south so the thought of snow really excites me. I just wanna go play outside (that's something I haven't said in like 8 years). I mean yea I'm 21 but so what who says a 21 year old can't go out in the snow with her boyfriend and have a snow ball fight. I mean is it only for the movies. Well today's forecast is snow and it is currently 4:40pm and the dark is creeping in. I would like the snow to fall while the sun is still out otherwise all of my hopeful waiting will be all for not (I'm definitely not going out there at night I'm not accustom to that type of cold). I can barely handle the 20 degree weather Atlanta throws at me I wonder how will I ever make it when I move to New York City.

Poetry and the new...
I decided to change my blogs. I first wanted to do a food blog then a random news blog. But now I am just gonna write about everyday life.
My mom has breast cancer and she has to undergo chemotherapy next week. I'm terrified but she seems calm and cool (as always). Well we are from Louisiana but she lives in Chicago and me in Atlanta. Thursday night me and my boyfriend plan to drive up there to visits her before her treatment. Well she wrote a book that has just been released to the public. Its full of spiritual and inspirational poetry about loving yourself and being happy. This is the perfect type of book to give someone who is down, lost their confidence or is a less happy person than you remembered. I am personally happy my mother finally was able to do something she longed talked of. If you would like to read an excerpt from the book click here.

This is the perfect type of book to give someone who is down, lost their confidence or is a less happy person than you remembered. I am personally happy my mother finally was able to do something she longed talked of. If you would like to read an excerpt from the book click here.
